Funny how we come across stuff we never knew existed and then your local market place feed throws it at you.

I never heard the brand name and never knew they existed.

But it was cheap enough to spark my interest and a google search listed the item on evilbay for a mouthwatering price.

First order of business was giving it a nice clean and visually inspecting it for signs of damage over the years. A few battle scars but in fairly decent nick and no missing parts.

Basically an aluminium cast construction making the saw super light. The quality of the casting is very very good.

Fairly premium handle and the grip feels very nice in the hands.

There are spots where I can see some silver hammertone paint but most of it is long gone.

But the devil is in the blade tightening mechanism:

A rack, a helical gear and a worm gear combined to form the blade tightening mechanism [emoji6]

The blade holders also have notches to index the blade at various angles, I can see where that can be useful.

The rack being fairly long means we can use 8” to 12” cutting blades.

They probably hired a retired RollsRoyce engineer and gave him the task of designing a hacksaw [emoji12]

A deeper search online helped me locate an British advert from the mid 1950’s:

I did run the price listed in the advert through an online inflation calculator.

The answer that the calculator gave is: who in their right mind would pay so much for a hacksaw [emoji846]

I wonder how many are still out in the wild.
