    Default Cheap Pen Press

Inspired by Penpal's comment in another thread I bought a cheap Aldi Drill Stand ($14.95) and turned it in to a Pen Press.

Glued some plywood together, turned one lot down to 43mm on one side and 52 mm on the other and put it in to the top where the drill goes.

Put another bit of ply on the bottom of the stand, drilled a 25mm hole in it, made up another insert 50mm square with a 25mm spigot turned on to it and Bob's your uncle.

I'll be making some extra inserts, also some with holes in it as some kits need this to be put together properly.

    One cheap pen press.

I'm not into pens but I might go rescue the old drillpress laying in the weather outside my workshop

Nice idea... stored away for safe keeping.

Good idea! And the bottle capper would work, too. I wonder if I still have mine..

I use my regular drill press, removing the bit and replacing it with a small piece of cut off dowel. Seems to work ok for now.

JD, it might make people cringe, but I too use a small wooden mallet I turned up just for this purpose.

I tried the vise thing and using the dril press as an assembly press but with the mallet I can feel when everything is home...

Just remember "force it, if it breaks it needed replacing anyway..."

I like that 'cheap' drill stand but can't find anything like that here in the USA ... That is a 'Blue Pine' Slimline in front of my bar clamp that I use to press with if I don't do it on the lathe.
