Default Engineers vice storage for woodworker

Hi, I mainly do woodworking with some metalworking mixed in. Mainly for toolmaking. I only have space for my woodworking bench and some lay down surfaces around the workshop. This means I do not have a dedicated bench to do some of the metal stuff.

For that I have an engineers vice mounted on a wooden jig, so I can mount it to the woodworking bench when I need it. Most off the time it just lives leaning against something on the floor.

That means I have to bend over to grab it and sometimes it gets un the way.

Therefore, I decided I need something better. Same time, I also gave that metal drawer cabinet a workover to make it look nicer and fix some missing handles.

I gave that vice a bigger platform and a dedicated space to go to when not on use. Underneath is now also storage for my soft jaws and various metal sawing blades, etc.

The bigger platform also makes sure not as many metal filings end up on the woodbench.

At least now I do not have to bend over as much to get it. Just grab and lift over to the bench. Easy.

    Nice implementation.

This was my storage solution for a removable engineering vice.
Apologies for the poor quality of teh video taken 12 years ago with, at the time, a 7 year old mobile.

A good practical solution. I'm fortunate in that I have enough bench space in my shed for my metalworking vices - one on a steel work bench welded to the wall, the other on the end of a storage / work bench just inside the door. My problem is bench grinders - I have four that I use regularly for different purposes - mounting them somewhere that provides easy access without having to move other benches / equipment is a challenge.

    Here's my solution for that.
Three grinders on movable arms on a HD turntable.

Nice tidy solution. Wish I had some space to do the same. Mine just lives on the floor like your first pic.
