sealed up 2hp dusty
I mentioned this in the dusty section and didn't get much of a response.
After years of providing the local sheep, rabbits and roos with the dust that I created, I now have to eat humble pie and move into a shed in tow n. There is no opportunity NONE to push dust to an outside 2hp dusty. Everything needs to be inside the shed.
So I would like comment, pictures advice etc of what sealed box you created. How you sound deadened it, how you sealed it etc etc if it didn't work please be honest and let me know privately if need be.
There is a whole sticky on the dust sectio. but I don't study well and prefer simple instructions 😅I would love to grow my own food, but I can not find bacon seeds

I put my dusty into it's own little shed, behind the main shed.
I ported thru the adjoining walls, which may not be an option for you.Pat

Can you vent outside?
If so, build a cupboard inside the shed and put the dusty in it.
Line it with heavy... Chipboard, carpet, acoustic plaster.
Create a labyrinth for the vent. Eg, partition off a corner with an 'entrance inside the cupboard at the bottom and exit outside at the top.
The idea is the sound is absorbed before it escapes.
If you can't vent outside, I reckon a secondary filter and vent back inside.
The vent cross section needs to be much larger than the vacuum line.

that is the problem, it is 1 shed in a block. 1 beside it, 1 behind it, no chance of poking holes through any walls. Then the landlord contacts me today...'hey Tonz, any chance you could make a desk up for me, just MDF panels for legs and a sheet of Tassie Oak for the top.?' we chatted over a few simple basic ideas and he is happy, so am I financially.😊 but I need to work out my own dust problem... no holes nothing.

I’m in a 6x6 workshop and currently have a 2hp carbatec with pleated filter but need something with a small footprint, can’t vent outside, more power. Thinking the Laguna cyclone from carbatec or a Felder AF16 as it has a small footprint, can’t seem to find the footprint dimensions once the Laguna is assembled yet but hoping to follow this thread to find a solution also

So I’m my searches go find a suitable dusty out of all the Sherwood and Laguna expensive topical DEs out there I think there’s a dark horse missing from the discussion
The Felder AF22 is a 4hp unit with a pleated filter and the stand it sits in a metal housing only 1300x 580 dimension so it doesn’t seem to take up much floor space for a non cyclone unit
It could be boxed in nicely.
Cheers

I think I might be missing something here. What is the "sealed box" and so forth being discussed? If you can't vent outside, then you are recycling the air in the room, so no part of the dust extractor system can be sealed - it can't suck air in if it can't also push it back out! Mind you, I know of at least one ducted air conditioning system (not in a workshop!) that pushes air into rooms with no return ducting, resulting in doors slamming shut and zero heating or cooling!
If this sealed box is for noise reduction, be aware that it may impact cooling of the motor, and the return channel air will require careful design to block noise whilst not impeding airflow.
The answer to dust extraction in a closed environment is simply to remove as much dust as possible from the air that is then pumped back into your lungs.
A budget near $6K, large electrical circuit (32amp) and lack of time constraints will get you the Laguna P-Flux-3 machine, which is quiet-ish, high-ish flow and HEPA rated for filtration, but out of stock everywhere that I can find and with no real idea of when it might be available. The smaller P-Flux-1 flows less air but is in stock at Carbatec.
The other approach is a non-HEPA system, with a room filter to remove the fine dust that escapes the main unit. I guess it's less ideal, as the fine dust is in the air until filtered, but it's a cheaper way of getting lots of flow and the best filtration on the world won't help if most of the dust comes straight out of the "tool" and bypasses the extractor altogether!
My previous workshop used the extractor motor/impeller from my H&F DC-3, mounted in a custom frame to pull through a Carbatec "add-on" cyclone and exhaust out through the wall. It worked as well as I needed at the time. I still have this, and all the parts required to return to its original "store bought" configuration, if anybody wants to buy it!
My new workshop (no external venting) will use a non-HEPA cyclone (the 3hp Laguna P-Flux-3) and a room filter. I can't say how well it works, because the P-Flux-3 is out of stock until mid July....

If this is the case then surely you can explain that to fabricate anything you need proper dust extraction and that means a hole in the wall (or roof) is required. Maybe the landlord has some ideas to help?
No dust management in an enclosed shed is asking for problems both in your own health and cleaning up a dusty mess in the shed all the time.

What I am working on now is a self enclosed dusty box fully sealing with baffles and a 100mm bell mouth outlet and 100mm flexi pipe going out either door depending on wind direction.
I would love to grow my own food, but I can not find bacon seeds

I believe the size of the outlet of the dusty box should be much larger than the inlet to the dusty
