Is this Vic-Ash used on this ceiling?
I've got a gnarly one! I've bought a house with some beautiful timber ceilings. I'm looking to potentially pull it off and use it on the floors.
I think it's Tassie Oak / Vic Ash, but I'm looking for someone who has a better eye to confirm.
Anyone want to have a go?

Pretty hard to tell from the pic., but it looks like it could be Western Red Cedar. This was a reasonably common ceiling lining in the late 70's to early 90's. It's pretty soft so it shouldn't be too hard to distinguish it from Tassie Oak. Definitely no good as flooring.

My initial thoughts were WRC too
regardless the panelling is most likely only 9 or 11mm thick as well

+1 for the WRC camp, looks a bit grainy for Vic Ash, can you get a closer pic?

I tend to agree with others, Mark. Could you do a close up photo of the grain to give us a better idea.
Even if it is Vic Ash or another hardwood, as it was used as a ceiling liner it is probably too thin to use for flooring. Ceiling and wall panelling was often only 3/8" thick (~ 9.5 mm).
