A nice email of thanks just received
Good Morning Bruce
Thank you and your team for the very well received Pens for the troops. Having spent the last couple of days distributing the Pens to the contingent, I can say that all have commented on the gesture and love the pieces they have received. I luckily was fortunate enough to have one turned by your own hand, and am very happy with my piece.
Please pass onto your team the gratitude from the contingent and we appreciate your time and effort.
Kind regards
Mike

“Good afternoon My name is Max and I was recently gifted a handmade pen made by a man called Chris Daley. I recently returned back to Australia from operations overseas. Over the following week we have been doing a bunch of demounting paperwork and lectures. At the start of one of these lecture our CSM stood up and explained that an organisation called pens for the troops had made us a bunch of pens. Hand made from a range of different woods, by a bunch of skilled individuals in a variety of different shapes and designs. I just wanted to shoot you a quick email to thank you for this otherwise thankless act. If this was your first pen or your hundredth pen I just wanted to say thank you and that this gesture of kindness is incredibly appreciated. You probably took a lot of your own time and effort to make this when nobody asked you to. You did this project to make a complete stranger day just that little bit better. Being a dad I know how valuable and little time a man can have to himself. So in conclusion thank you. I’m sure this lovely handmade pen made of blue gum is going to serve me well into the future. Kind regards and best wishes, Maxwell”

A great email received from the troops in the Middle East. They took over a month to get there.
Good morning Bruce
I received the pens today. They are awesome! A true craftsman.
A couple of my coalition offsiders have eyed my pen off since we last wrote too.
A couple of the team have already grab one. Commenting ‘how cool are these’.
Once again thank you and your support is appreciated
I look forward to showing WOJOPS.
Yours aye
