Marine M1A1 Abrams Tank
My son served in Iraq with the US Marine 2nd Tanks as a tank commander. He loved that weapon system. It did almost everything except fly.
Most all of the wood was cut locally, sawed into lumber and dried right here. After drying, I planed and jointed the wood used in the tank. Just some dowel pins were purchased. I could of made those also but justdidn’t.
Using Texas ash for the main body and Texas red oak for the wheels, tread and highlights, I made the replica from a PDF pattern I purchased. It was challenging to make over 80 tank treads, that when linked together, ranin a straight line.
When my son first saw the tank after completion, he commented about the detail. He said that even the wheel spacing was correct.
